Give in honor of a beautiful life, for the hope and dignity of others.
Three years ago, we established Fanu’s Fund, in memory and honor of Fanu, a woman in the community who, along with her infant daughter, was tragically murdered in her home by her husband.
Fanu’s Fund helps advance our efforts to protect women and children, and change narratives in the community around violence and conflict through our programs.

Fanu was strong, smart, and kind. She was meek and steadfast. She was a devoted mother of 5 children, a wife, sister, and friend. She wove intricate baskets and was known for her skill in creating beautiful things. Watch a video of Fanu making baskets here.

“Investing in gender equality and women’s empowerment can help eradicate extreme poverty, build vibrant economies, and unlock human potential on a transformational scale.” |
By educating, equipping and empowering vulnerable women, we are seeing families emerge from extreme poverty and build flourishing lives.
"According to a 2010 Global Gender Gap report, Ethiopia ranked 121 out of 134 countries in gender disparities. But, what has shown to be true is that investing in women is one of the most effective ways to fight extreme poverty. When we empower women, it can have a positive ripple effect on entire communities." |
